Kelly Mekdeci is an instructor, consultant, and presenter in the field of International School Leadership and Governance. From 2009 through 2019, she served as head of the Georgetown International Academy (GIA), a Pre-K through Grade 12 American Overseas school in Guyana. Prior to 2009 Kelly spent nearly two decades teaching every grade level between third and twelfth. From a young age, she aspired to be a teacher and continues to be passionate about learning and teaching. Kelly has a particular interest in school culture and governance, and in 2011 received AdvancED’s (Cognia’s) James Stiltner Award for Excellence in Education. Several months later, she completed her doctoral dissertation at Lehigh University on mission continuity. Over the past decade, Kelly has also led and served on numerous accreditation reviews in South America, the Middle East, North America, and the Caribbean.
